Flash MX: Control
Projector Files with the fsCommand
• Flash provides a way
to create a projector file—a self-executable application
that doesn’t require the Flash player.
• Windows projector file: .exe
• Macintosh projector file: .projector
• Projector files are larger than standard SWF files
• Use the Flash projector to deliver media on CD-ROM
• Use the fscommand action to set parameters for projector
files
1. Open or create a new .fla file
and select the first keyframe on the Timeline.
2. Choose Window…Actions and then
choose Actions…Browser Network…fsCommand.
3. Choose “fullscreen (true/false)”
from the “Commands for Standalone Player” drop-down
menu. The "true" parameter will make the projector
file play at full screen mode. The "false" parameter
will make the projector file play at the original size/dimension
it was created at.
4. Check the Expression checkbox next to
the Parameters field.
NOTE: Checking the Expression checkbox next to the Parameters
field removes the quotation marks around the entry and makes
this an expression. Think of an expression as being a formula.
5. Double-click fscommand again and choose
“showmenu (true/false)” from the “Commands
for Standalone Player” drop-down menu.
6. Change “true’ to “false”
in the Parameter field and check the Expression checkbox.
The "false" parameter will play the projector file
with no menu bar displayed.
7. Next, create a button symbol that will
serve as the "Quit" button for the projector file.
Place the button on the main timeline on its own layer and
click the “Quit” button on the Stage to select
it.
8. Then double-click the fscommand action
again in the Actions window. Choose “quit” from
the “Commands for Standalone Player” drop-down
menu.
9. Close the Actions window.
10. Choose File…Publish Settings.
Select the “Windows Projector (.exe) and/or Macintosh
Projector check boxes from the Formats tab. Deselect any other
selected checkboxes and click “Publish.” Click
OK.
11. Navigate to the folder where you've
publised the projector file and open the “file.exe”
projector file. Preview the results.
